Thanks to all who turned out for the Rutherford Civic Assoc. annual business meeting Tuesday, May 16!
We started with a great presentation by Brett Lieberman of My Pest Pros. My biggest takeaway was that since all pest problems start outside the house, the best place to start is changing conditions outside the house: preventing pests from having good habitat in our yards and preventing them from getting in. We should avoid using pesticides in the house whenever possible. Brett left some informative handouts on basic steps we all can take to reduce mosquitoes in our yards, and how to choose the right insect repellent. We have posted them on the rutherfordcommunity.com website under “References and Recommendations”.
Additionally, we thanked outgoing Board Secretary Jenny Raymer for her service to our community, and approved new Secretary Renee Faulkner. All other Board officers are continuing for the coming year – thank you for your ongoing service!
We approved a new annual budget. Thanks to all who have mailed in their annual donations or used PayPal to donate (see rutherfordcommunity.com!).

-Please share any ideas you might have for a speaker for our next general meeting in Nov.
-We want to add a small sign with our website address below the main entrance sign. Are you a sign maker? Know someone who is?
And stay tuned for upcoming 2017 Rutherford events: National Night Out in August, Fall Stroll in Sept., Fall Festival at the Trunk or Treat, and Santa Visits to benefit Toys for Tots!
